CLI: Change directory to onEscapee: ( eg: 'CD onEscapee:' ) then execute the "Start" file ( eg: 'execute Start' ) To non-standard (VGA/SVGA) monitor users: Run the program EscMode to choose the right screenmodes. You have to choose 2 screenmodes, one for the game screen (320x256) and one for the menu screen(640x400). Or you can use screenmode promotors like 'NewMode' as well. The game uses Locale setting to get the preferred language. OPTIONS (F1/F10 during game): ============================ MUSIC ON/OFF: Turns on/off digitized music playing. SOUND EFX ON/OFF: Turns on/off sound effects WAVING ON/OFF: Turns on/off water-waving in the sea level. Slowly, I began to doze off, sat in my armchair, in the centre of my room. Sounds and sensations began to merge... the TV... the house... but I could hear footsteps! Someone was at the front door. I heard a scrape, and someone running away.... BOOOM!!! The door was blasted off it's hinges, and landed right on top of me, almost as if they had seen through the wall and looked at where I was. I knew well who they were. Gone are the days where we only wondered if there was life outside of our solar system. We got used to them hanging around us. We got a new civilisation, a new life and new friends. In spite of that, I could never get rid of the feeling, that one day, they would take ME, like the others they had taken before. Sure, there was no proof, but I really did not want to get on that list "vanished without a trace". They tried to lay me flat on the floor, but I bagan to struggle, which ended when I received a sickening hit on my head..... ....I regained my conciousness in a car. Luckily, my abductors didn't realise that I was awake. I bagan to shout and kick, I tried to hit them, but I was terrified. As I tried to throttle the driver, he lost control, and the car broke through the barriers, and to my horror, into a deep chasm. I instantly regretted what I did, and realised, that in seconds, I would be dead. The thought went through my mind, that if I had not struggled, I could have lived for a while, albeit on a distant planet.... ....but my thoughts were broken, because, ridiculous as it may sound, the car turned into a flying ship, complete with dazzling light and a roaring engine. We headed outwards and on, into space. The only thing that I could remember, is that we were still fighting heavily as we started to land.... .....it was terrible. The crash, the impact, splinters, noise, screams, a shattering sound, and everything getting smashed up. I crawled out of the wreckage, and saw that there was some kind of strange liquid, bleeding out of the aliens, a very foul smelling disgusting liquid. I noticed a device what looked like a communicator, which made odd sounds, chirping, all an urecognisable cacophany of sound. I couldn't take the stress, I fainted..... ....hours, days may have passed, then something grabbed the shipwreck, lifted it up, with me still on board, and took it to a hideously disgusting place. What looked like a dumping ground. Maybe they thought I was dead, and they threw me out like rag doll, in the middle of dirt, waste and litter. I was an Escapee - was I the only one? That was the beginning, as I remember." Daniel White HINTS AND TIPS: =============== STAGE ONE - INTRODUCTION: DUMPING GROUND * try not to stop under the machine * as a rule, go left * you can roll.. * especially under fallen trees * electricity hurts you * you can't get over the 'electric-tree' by yourself.. * there's nothing but you, the machine, and the obstruction * use the machine to get thrown over the tree * mosquitoes are hard to notice.. * be quick! * don't try to jump down the cliff * if you haven't noticed yet, the machine can destroy metallic objects.. * like spaceships... * make the machine destroy the ship (the ship near the cliff) * the ship hit a hole on the ground when it landed once * jump in! STAGE TWO - THE QUARRY CAVE * first, the right direction is: right :) * the hanging tentacles are easy to pass rolling * you can find gorges where the rock face is dark * there is one right to the 4 tentacles * it's not safe walking in total darkness on an alien planet... * the strange device needs something to insert in * examine the ground (gleams may help you) * there's something where you've fallen from the dumping ground! * insert the key into the device * it'll turn on the light in another section of the cave * don't touch the monster! * it can't hurt you when eating anything else * ....like a bat * look for a gorge again... * ..mainly left to the bat-like creatures, before the chasm * a few drop of acidic blood is not deadly * there's another gorge right to the upper-corpse * you can't jump over the chasm at the fallen rocks * but you must get over it * if only you had some explosives,or a gun to fill the chasm with rocks * find the spider! * the spider have already killed someone * who have (had) a gun * jump up to get the gun! * pick up after it fallen on the ground * would be good if some rocks fell in the chasm... * fire at the fallen rocks, left to chasm * then Escape! * it would be good to know what the device have to show... * get through the strange animals at the spinning device * it's easy; they are slow * just run across them quickly * then examine the engravings on the wall * finally: mind the shadows at the engraved sign * the _outer_ stonebuttons have to be pressed ( dark state - pressed ) PART 2 OF QUARRY CAVE - WITH MORE VEGETATION * you should go left until the 2nd fall * the pricking 'animal' on the ground can be killed if you shoot at it's pricks when they are out * you can pass the mosquitoes as the ones in the dumping ground * the little snakes can't be shooted down, but you can narcotize them * there's an 'animal' right to the pricker * this animal gives terrible smell when killed * and it also escape from gunfire * have it gone under the snakes, then kill it * turn into the fall * now you should go left * it's easy to pass that dark thing on the ground: just jump it over * the reddish monster needn't be killed * there's another entrance over the big snake * shoot at the snake, then run to it's other side quickly * go left * jump over the cables * close the opening on the floor using the console device * call for the lift, solving the puzzle! * the cables with the same color should be connected, but different colored cables mustn't be connected STAGE THREE - THE BASE SECTION * so far you are well trained, so here's only a few guidelines: * watch the wall : there are special signs and devices on it - flashing arrows help you to find them * use the shield ;)) * watch the ground for keys and extra bullets * waving wallparts aren't dangerous * try all kind of doors and teleports * some help for the puzzle with the 3 ellipses: * each of the ellipses have to contain the same 4 signs * the type of that signs on the screen after the 3rd lift (1st narrow screen) * once you set signs the same in an ellipse, it's very easy to finish it, just press each of the 4 buttons one time, until they'll show what they appropriate imagery * the main enemy is very strong and you can't shoot him down, try to escape from him STAGE 4 - IN THE CITY * there are maps on 3 different places, use them if you are lost * you don't have to use the bridge, there's an alternate way to the other side * for solving the last computer's quest, you have to power up the system first STAGE 5 - IN THE RIVER AND THE SEA * reach the sea * find your gun * explode the exit gate up STAGE 6 - IN THE DOCK AREA * your main enemy is still alive somewhere... =================================================================================
